The Love Continues…
Previously, I declared my everlasting love for Weechat because of its ability to split horizontally and vertically:
That was on a 17″ LCD. Recently I got hold of a 21″ screen. Now I can look at this all day:
Ok, maybe, just maybe, my fondness for Weechat isn’t healthy!
On a side note, a Georgia US LoCo member, who goes by heathen on UF and IRC, had mentioned the wonders of conky. Prompted by the awesome .conkyrc posted by Matthew Helmke and Mike Basinger’s conky RSS additions, this is what I have on the laptop:
The transparency of conky on KDE required a bit of tweaking, but it rocks.

I’ve tried to get transparency without flickering on KDE without success. I tried commenting out the options for nautilus, and nothing. Double buffering didn’t work either.
How did you do it?

Gabriel, I followed some of the instructions here:
http://briancarper.net/2006/08/25/transparent-conky-in-kde-part-2/
This is what my conky start-up script looks like under Autostart:
————–
#!/bin/bash
exec feh –bg-scale `dcop kdesktop KBackgroundIface currentWallpaper 1` &
sleep 20 &&
exec conky -d -c ~/apps/conky/conkyrc_main &
exit

Nick, that sure does look cool. Could I persuade you to share the love of Weechat by doing a writeup of it for Debian Package of the Day?
