Me, Me, Me!

So you wanna know a bit about me, huh?

For my day job, I am a software architect. Honestly, thats about as geeky as I want to get for now, so lets stop there. Wait. I love the Internet, but I won’t post too much about it since everyone does. Hold on…I’m also a big fan of open source software like Linux. Being a Linux user since 1996, I realize its not perfect, but its a definitely a viable alternative to Microsoft and other Unix products. Ok, ok…there will be some posts and pages related to Linux now and then, but I’ll try to keep them to a minimum. Yeah, right.

I’m a big fan of Ubuntu (or anything Debian related really). Been involved in the community since the beginning of 2007. I am an Ubuntu member, part of the Georgia US team, and on the Americas Membership Board. A not so recently updated Ubuntu wiki page is here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NickAli

I’ve been published for the first time in the Ubuntu User magaine, Issue 1, under New Features.

As a big believer that everything in the future will be about video, I co-host the Ubuntu Podcast and have taken a stab at video blogging at boredandblogging.tv.

For my other hobby, I’m a Brother of the Leaf (BOTL). No, not Mary Jane, but cigars. I’ve been enjoying them for about 8 years. Nothing like relaxing after work with a nice full-bodied cigar!

Can’t say I’m the biggest fan of politics…more of a libertarian than anything else…any other questions?
