WeeChat that is…being a terminal junkie, screen + irssi + weechat = perfection. I’ve set up irssi as a proxy so I can use the same connection from multiple machines around the house.

The best thing about WeeChat is that you can split horizontally and vertically, which I don’t think you can do with irssi (could be wrong about that). Granted, most GUI irc clients like X-Chat can be arranged to do so, but thats no fun.

Nothing like seeing six channels at the same time on 1280×1024 resolution.

  1. Of course there’s something like seeing that. TrySix channels at the same time on 1600×1200!

  2. If only the updated version of weechat was in the repos. Gotta love this powerful little IRC client. No one should be without a terminal based client for those times of need.

Using GNU Screen makes a lot of sense if you are at a terminal all day long. Also you might try using bitlbee as an IM proxy.
