Things to do and see in Toronto?

July 9, 2007

I’ll be in Toronto this week for a wedding. Lots of family will be there, so we would like to visit some of usual tourist spots.

We’ll definitely do the CN Tower.

Any recommendations on what else we should do? Restaurants and tourist traps are welcome.

Take a ferry out to the Toronto Islands.

Or walk around the University of Toronto campus (there are also free tours). Baldwin Street, which is close by, has nice restaurants.

Fort York is very interesting with entertaining guides all in period costume. http://www.fortyork.ca/

It’s been a while since I have been to Toronto… I believe there is a Hard Rock Cafe near the CN Tower…

I can’t remember how far it was, but if you can make the drive, there is always Niagra Falls that is pretty close to there.

If you are going UP the CN Tower, when you come down go to the STEAM WHISTLE BREWERY, only about a block away, and built in an old train roundhouse, 5 bucks or so gets you some drinkies, a great tour of the place, some more drinkies, then you get to take home some glasses. Or bottle opener. I love them there glasses!

For other events and happenings, check out Toronto.com – you missed the grand prix which was this last weekend, but lots else to do in toronto’s many districts.

Oh yeah, for sure take a drive to Niagara falls. Here’s what you must do there.

1 – View the falls from the top.
2 – Go on the MAID OF THE MIST boat – well worth it.
3 – Go up clifton hill to NIGHTMARES HAUNTED HOUSE – totally worth it!
4- come back along the niagara river instead of the QEW and visit a winery or two.

You’ll thank me later!

I love High Park. St. Lawrence market is great, too. I really recommend the Toronto Islands, it seems like another world there.

I second the Steam Whistle Brewery recommendation. Great Beer, Great Atmosphere, Interesting History, and Great Beer.
