Ubuntu Georgia US LoCo Logo

June 3, 2007

It slipped my mind, but there was recently a poll to select a logo for the Ubuntu Georgia US Team. Here were the candidates:

(3) was the winner. The poll can be seen here. Congrats to Justin for making the winning logo!

The logo makes no distinction about whether you mean Georgia, the country, or Georgia, the political subdivision. Please, for the sake of clarity and respect to other peoples of the world (Georgians especially), make it clear about which part of the world you represent.

I like the visual pun in option 5. :-)

Oh man, I wish I would have seen this. #2 is my favorite except for the ubuntu part, to black I think, but I love the “peach” reference in the logo. #3 is great as well, as I see it everytime I enter Georgia coming through Chattanooga. Great logos by the way!

I know you’ve said that you have decided on logo #3, but I think that Sridhar Dhanapalan’s comments are worth considering. It would be nice if there were somehow a distinction that it is a U.S. loco team. Maybe have it be “Ubuntu U.S. Loco” beneath the Georgia part?

@2,5

You guys are right, it should say “US” somewhere in there. I’ll bring it up with Justin, who made the logo, and see what we can do to make the change.

I really like #3 as well. Maybe just stretch it a bit to say ubuntu-us loco on the bottom and you’re set.

I don’t suppose your artist would like to try and tackle a logo for Utah? we’ve tried and tried and can’t come up with anything artistic!
