I've used T-Mobile's GPRS/EDGE service around town and had no problem getting decent service. The problem with T-Mobile's network was latency...you would type in the URL and it would take a few seconds for it to resolve and connect to the site. Once it connected, the speed was ok, definitely ok enough for browsing. Maybe the other carriers have better service. Now only if Hartsfield would provide free Internet access. I've taken to using my HSDPA cell phone to get internet access when I'm on the move and out of a Fastpass area. Even that isn't full proof, but at least the HSDPA network covers Atlanta and the northern burbs around my office well. But stores seem to get their service from too many different services. Most Starbucks have T-Mobile HotSpot, Borders gets theirs from AT&T, etc, etc. It would be great to sign up with one company and get service everywhere. They provide the on-campus wireless for Georgia Tech and I believe GSU. They also service many business and homes in Midtown (including mine). I haven't had a whole lot of luck finding access outdoors outside of Georgia Tech though....
