So the wife and I went to see Bombay Dreams at The Fox Theatre last night. If you haven’t heard about it, its basically a Bollywood movie on stage. The London run was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber. The plot isn’t all that impressive, boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, girl resists for whatever reasons, more drama, and everything works out in the end. Wikipedia mentions the plot and characters got revamped for Broadway, so that might explain it.

But its worth seeing for a one reason: its a complete visual feast. Lots of bright colors, lots of hip swiveling (for both sexes…and more), and there is even a wet sari scene.

I’m wonder if it was poorly promoted since the theater was half full on a Friday night, but it was competing with a Falcons and Braves game as well.

Bombay Dreams isn’t going to go down in history as a great musical, but it is entertaining.
And if you don’t get the title of this post, you will after watching it.
